DESCRIPTION:Goblets—How To Turn\n\nATTENTION! You must be checked-off on 
 the lathes before taking this class. Preferably\, you will have taken the 
 How To Turn a Wood Bowl class to learn basic hollowing.\n\nTHIS IS A TWO-P
 ART CLASS.
this is DAY 2. \nThe second class will be held on the same e
 vening in two weeks time.\n\nTurning endgrain hollow forms from wood\, suc
 h as goblets\, involves learning a series of turning techniques\, includin
 g hollowing endgrain\, scraping vs cutting on the bevel\, safe workholding
  in a chuck\, spindle turning\, and understanding wood grain.\n\nIn the fi
 rst class\, students will turn the bowl of the goblet to learn how to adva
 nce through the process—evaluate the wood\, round the blank\, cut a teno
 n to mount the spindle in a chuck\, hollow the bowl of the goblet and poss
 ibly begin shaping the outside of the goblet.\n\nThe second class will cov
 er shaping the outside of the goblet (without creating a funnel)\, shaping
  the stem and foot of the goblet\, and parting off the final vessel\,. Fin
 ishing will be discussed in relation to the intended purpose of the goblet
 \, and whether a student opts to turn green or kiln-dried lumber.\n\nPart 
 One (10/24)\, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm\nPart Two (10/31)\, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm\n\
 nMaximum four students per class\n\nCost: $135\n\nThis class is open to Bo
 dgery members interested in advancing their turning skills as well as the 
 general public. Kids 10 and up ok if they are truly interested in woodturn
 ing\, but under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.\n\nYou’ll be using t
 he wood lathes\, HSS and carbide turning tools. If a student already has t
 urning tools\, please clear them with me before class—tools must be shar
 pened before use.\n\nClosed toe shoes are required. Long hair must be pull
 ed back. No exceptions.\nThe class meets in the “Woodturning” part of 
 the Shop where the wood lathes are located.\n\nRefunds issued before 10/16
 th.  Please arrive on time. Non-members\, please arrive at least 5 minute
 s before class. Our buildlings are locked 24/7 and you’ll need to be let
