DESCRIPTION:Goblets—How To Turn : DAY-2 \n\nATTENTION! You must be check
 ed-off on the lathes before taking this class.\n\nPreferably\, you will ha
 ve taken the How To Turn a Wood Bowl class to learn basic hollowing.\n\nTH
 IS IS A TWO-PART CLASS.\nDo take note of the 2 class dates.\n\nTurning end
 grain hollow forms from wood\, such as goblets\, involves learning a serie
 s of turning techniques\, including hollowing endgrain\, scraping vs cutti
 ng on the bevel\, safe workholding in a chuck\, spindle turning\, and unde
 rstanding wood grain.\n\nIn the first class\, students will turn the bowl 
 of the goblet to learn how to advance through the process—evaluate the w
 ood\, round the blank\, cut a tenon to mount the spindle in a chuck\, holl
 ow the bowl of the goblet and possibly begin shaping the outside of the go
 blet.\n\nThe second class will cover shaping the outside of the goblet (wi
 thout creating a funnel)\, shaping the stem and foot of the goblet\, and p
 arting off the final vessel\,. Finishing will be discussed in relation to 
 the intended purpose of the goblet\, and whether a student opts to turn gr
 een or kiln-dried lumber.\n\nPart One Tuesday\, Dec 10\, 6:30 pm to 9:30 p
 m\nPart Two Thursday\, Dec 12\, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm\nDo take note of the da
 tes. These classes are in the same week!\n\nMaximum four students per clas
 s\n\nCost: $135. Refunds before 12/7.\n\nThis class is open to Bodgery mem
 bers interested in advancing their turning skills as well as the general p
 ublic.\n\nKids 10 and up ok if they are truly interested in woodturning\, 
 but under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.\n\nYou’ll be using the woo
 d lathes\, HSS and carbide turning tools. If a student already has turning
  tools\, please clear them with me before class—tools must be sharpened 
 before use.\n\nClosed toe shoes are required. Long hair must be pulled bac
 k. No exceptions.\n\nThe class meets in the “Woodturning” part of the 
 Shop where the wood lathes are located. Refunds issued 48 hours in advance
 . Please arrive on time. Non-members\, please arrive at least 5 minutes be
 fore class. Our buildlings are locked 24/7 and you’ll need to be let ins
