 \n\nYou must be checked-off on the lathes before taking this class!\n\nThi
 s is an advanced turning project.\n\nTHIS IS A TWO-PART CLASS.\nThe second
  class will be held on the same evening next week.\n\nTurning the inside b
 elow the neck of a vase or the rim of a calabash bowl involves learning ad
 ditional echniques\, specifically in undercutting and safely using “swan
  neck” hollowing carbide tools\, secure workholding in a chuck\, and und
 erstanding understanding supported vs unsupported turning as well as blind
  cuts.\n\nIn the first class\, students will cut tenons\, design and shape
  the blank\, and drill the initial opening.\n\nIn the second class\, stude
 nts will use hollowing tools to undercut and hollow the interior of the fo
 rm. Finishing will be discussed in relation to the intended purpose of the
  hollow form\, and potential advanced concepts such as spheres and multi-a
 xis turning will be discussed based on interest.\n\nPart One Monday\, Apri
 l 20\, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm\nPart Two Monday\, April 27\, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm
 \nMaximum four students per class .\nClass Fee: $135 (includes $5 for a 
 turning blank).\nRefunds available before April 18.\n\nYou’ll be using t
 he wood lathes and both HSS and carbide turning and hollowing tools.\n\nTh
 is class is open to intermediate woodturners interested in advancing their
  turning skills. If a student already has turning tools\, please clear the
 m with me before class—all tools should be sharpened before use.\n\nKids
  13 and up are ok if they are already turning. This is not a good class fo
 r beginners\, especially those under 13.\n\nClosed toe shoes are required.
  Long hair must be pulled back. No exceptions.\n\nThe class meets in the W
 oodturning area outside of the Woodshop where the wood lathes are located.
 \n\nNon-members\, please arrive at least 5 minutes before class. Our build
 lings are locked 24/7 and you’ll need to be let inside. As this is a 2 d
 ay class\, refunds will be available 48 hours before the first class only.
