SUMMARY:How To Turn a Wood Bowl
DESCRIPTION:\nHow to Turn a Wood Bowl (please read carefully before signing
  up)\n\nYou must be checked-off on the lathes before taking this class!\n\
 nTHIS IS A TWO-PART CLASS. The second class will be held on the same eveni
 ng next week.\n\nTurning a bowl from a block of wood involves learning a s
 eries of turning techniques\, including scraping vs cutting on the bevel\,
  safe workholding in a chuck\, and understanding wood grain.\n\nIn the fir
 st class\, students will turn a small bowl from either a green log or 8/4 
 lumber to learn how to advance through the process—evaluate the wood\, c
 ut a tenon to mount the bowl in a chuck\, shape the outside\, and start ho
 llowing the inside.\n\nThe second class will cover techniques for completi
 ng the interior of the bowl as well as techniques to remove the tenon from
  the foot of the bowl. Finishing will be discussed in relation to the inte
 nded purpose of the bowl\, and whether a student opts to turn green or kil
 n-dried lumber.\n\nPart One Wednesday\, April 10\, 6:00 to 9:30 pm\nPart T
 wo Wednesday\, April 17\, 6:00 to 9:30 pm\n\nMaximum three students per cl
 ass
. You’ll be using the wood lathes and both HSS and carbide turning
  tools.\n\nThis class is open to Bodgery members interested in advancing t
 heir turning skills. Kids 10 and up ok if they are truly interested in woo
 dturning\, but under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.\n\nIf a student a
 lready has turning tools\, please clear them with me before class—gouges
  should be sharpened before use.\n\nClosed toe shoes are required. Long ha
 ir must be pulled back. No exceptions.
The class meets in the “Woodtur
 ning” part of the Shop where the wood lathes are located.\n\nSince this 
 is a 2 day class\, refunds available till April 5 only. Please arrive on t
