SUMMARY:How to Turn a Wood Bowl
DESCRIPTION:(Please read carefully before signing up)\n\nYou must be checke
 d-off on the lathes before taking this class!\n\nTHIS IS A TWO-PART CLASS.
 \nThe second class will be held on the same evening next week.\n\nTurning 
 a bowl from a block of wood involves learning a series of turning techniqu
 es\, including scraping vs cutting on the bevel\, safe work holding in a c
 huck\, and understanding wood grain.\n\nIn the first class\, students will
  turn a small bowl from 8/4 lumber to learn how to advance through the pro
 cess—evaluate the wood\, cut a tenon to mount the bowl in a chuck\, shap
 e the outside\, and start hollowing the inside. Turning from green wood wi
 ll be discussed\n\nThe second class will cover techniques for completing t
 he interior of the bowl as well as techniques to remove the tenon from the
  foot of the bowl. Finishing will be discussed in relation to the intended
  purpose of the bowl\, and whether a student opts to turn green or kiln-dr
 ied lumber.\n\nPart One Thursday\, Feb 13\, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm\nPart Two T
 hursday\, Feb 20\, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm\nMaximum four students per class

 \nClass Fee: $135.\nRefunds available before Feb 5th\, 2025.\n\nYou’ll b
 e using the wood lathes and both HSS and carbide turning tools.\n\nThis cl
 ass is open to woodturners interested in advancing their turning skills. I
 f a student already has turning tools\, please clear them with me before c
 lass—gouges should be sharpened before use.\n\nKids 10 and up ok if they
  are truly interested in woodturning\, but under 13 must be accompanied by
  an adult.\n\nClosed toe shoes are required. Long hair must be pulled back
 . No exceptions.\n\nThe class meets in the Woodturning area outside of the
  Woodshop where the wood lathes are located.\n\nNon-members\, please arriv
 e at least 5 minutes before class. Our buildlings are locked 24/7 and you
 ’ll need to be let inside. As this is a 2 day class\, refunds will be av
 ailable 48 hours before the first class only. Please arrive on time.\n\nCo
