DESCRIPTION:How to Turn a Wood Bowl (please read carefully before signing u
 p)\n\nYou must be checked-off on the lathes before taking this class!\n\nT
 HIS IS A TWO-PART CLASS.\nThe second class will be held on the same evenin
 g next week.\n\nTurning a bowl from a block of wood involves learning a se
 ries of turning techniques\, including scraping vs cutting on the bevel\, 
 safe workholding in a chuck\, and understanding wood grain.\n\nIn the firs
 t class\, students will turn a small bowl from either a green log or 8/4 l
 umber to learn how to advance through the process—evaluate the wood\, cu
 t a tenon to mount the bowl in a chuck\, shape the outside\, and start hol
 lowing the inside.\n\nThe second class will cover techniques for completin
 g the interior of the bowl as well as techniques to remove the tenon from 
 the foot of the bowl. Finishing will be discussed in relation to the inten
 ded purpose of the bowl\, and whether the lumber is green or kiln-dried.\n
 \nPart One Tuesday\, July 23\, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm\nPart Two Tuesday\, July
  30\, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm\nMaximum three students per class
.\n\nYou’ll
  be using the wood lathes and both HSS and carbide turning tools.This clas
 s is open to woodturners interested in advancing their turning skills. Kid
 s 10 and up ok if they are truly interested in woodturning\, but under 13 
 must be accompanied by an adult.\n\nIf a student already has turning tools
 \, please clear them with me before class—gouges should be sharpened bef
 ore use.\n\nClosed toe shoes are required. Long hair must be pulled back. 
 No exceptions.\nThe class meets in the Woodturning area outside of the Woo
 dshop where the wood lathes are located.\n\nNon-members\, please arrive at
  least 5 minutes before class. Our buildlings are locked 24/7 and you'll n
 eed to be let inside.\n\nSince this is a 2 day class\, refunds will be ava
 ilable until July 18th only. Please arrive on time.Students arriving 15 mi
 nutes or more late will not be allowed in class or refunded. \n\n\nContac
