DESCRIPTION:How to Turn a Wood Bowl (please read carefully before signing u
 p)\n\nYou must be checked-off on the lathes before taking this class!\n\nT
 HIS IS A TWO-PART CLASS.\nThe second class will be held on the same evenin
 g in two weeks time.\n\nTurning a bowl from a block of wood involves learn
 ing a series of turning techniques\, including scraping vs cutting on the 
 bevel\, safe workholding in a chuck\, and understanding wood grain.\n\nIn 
 the first class\, students will turn a small bowl from 8/4 lumber to learn
  how to advance through the process—evaluate the wood\, cut a tenon to m
 ount the bowl in a chuck\, and shape the outside.\n\nThe second class will
  cover techniques for hollowing the interior of the bowl as well as techni
 ques to remove the tenon from the foot of the bowl. Finishing will be disc
 ussed in relation to the intended purpose of the bowl\, and whether a stud
 ent opts to turn green or kiln-dried lumber.\n\nPart One Tuesday\, Septemb
 er 10\, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm\nPart Two Tuesday\, September 24\, 6:30 pm to 9
 :30 pm\nMaximum four students per class
.\n\nCost: $135\n\nYou’ll be u
 sing the wood lathes and both HSS and carbide turning tools.This class is 
 open to woodturners interested in advancing their turning skills. Kids 10 
 and up ok if they are truly interested in woodturning\, but under 13 must 
 be accompanied by an adult.\n\nIf a student already has turning tools\, pl
 ease clear them with me before class—gouges should be sharpened before u
 se.\n\nClosed toe shoes are required. Long hair must be pulled back. No ex
 ceptions.\nThe class meets in the Woodturning area outside of the Woodshop
  where the wood lathes are located.\n\nNon-members\, please arrive at leas
 t 5 minutes before class. Our buildlings are locked 24/7 and you'll need t
 o be let inside.\n\nSince this is a 2 day class\, refunds will be availabl
