DESCRIPTION:How to Turn a Wood Bowl (please read carefully before signing u
 p)\n\nYou must be checked-off on the lathes before taking this class!\n\nT
 HIS IS A TWO-PART CLASS. The second class will be held on the same evening
  next week.\n\nTurning a bowl from a block of wood involves learning a ser
 ies of turning techniques\, including scraping vs cutting on the bevel\, s
 afe workholding in a chuck\, and understanding wood grain.\n\nIn the first
  class\, students will turn a small bowl from 8/4 lumber to learn how to a
 dvance through the process—evaluate the wood\, cut a tenon to mount the 
 bowl in a chuck\, shape the outside\, and start hollowing the inside. This
  class does NOT include check-off on the bandsaw.\n\nThe second class will
  cover techniques for completing the interior of the bowl as well as techn
 iques to remove the tenon from the foot of the bowl. Finishing will be dis
 cussed in relation to the intended purpose of the bowl\, and the differenc
 es between turning green and kiln-dried lumber.\n\nPart One Wednesday\, Ju
 ne 12\, 6:30 to 9:30 pm\nPart Two Wednesday\, June 19\, 6:30 to 9:30 pm\n\
 n$135 (includes $5 for 8/4 lumber)\n\nMaximum three students per class .
  You’ll be using the wood lathes and both HSS and carbide turning tools.
 \n\nThis class is open to anyone who has been checked off on the lathes an
 d is interested in advancing their turning skills. Kids 10 and up ok if th
 ey are truly interested in woodturning\, but under 13 must be accompanied 
 by an adult.\n\nIf a student already has turning tools\, please clear them
  with me before class—gouges should be sharpened before use.\n\nClosed t
 oe shoes are required. Long hair must be pulled back. No exceptions. The
  class meets in the “Woodturning” part of the Shop where the wood lath
 es are located.\n\nSince this is a 2 day class\, refunds available until J
