 n(Please read carefully before signing up)\n\nYou must be checked-off on t
 he lathes before taking this class!\n\nTHIS IS A TWO-PART CLASS.\nThe seco
 nd class will be held on the same evening next week.\n\nTurning a bowl fro
 m a block of wood involves learning a series of turning techniques\, inclu
 ding scraping vs cutting on the bevel\, safe workholding in a chuck\, and 
 understanding wood grain.\n\nIn the first class\, students will turn a sma
 ll bowl from either a green log or 8/4 lumber to learn how to advance thro
 ugh the process—evaluate the wood\, cut a tenon to mount the bowl in a c
 huck\, shape the outside\, and start hollowing the inside.\n\nThe second c
 lass will cover techniques for completing the interior of the bowl as well
  as techniques to remove the tenon from the foot of the bowl. Finishing wi
 ll be discussed in relation to the intended purpose of the bowl\, and whet
 her a student opts to turn green or kiln-dried lumber.\n\nPart One Monday\
 , March 23\, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm\nPart Two Monday\, March 30\, 6:30 pm to 9
 :30 pm\nMaximum four students per class

 ilable before March 21.\n\nYou’ll be using the wood lathes and both HSS 
 and carbide turning tools.\n\nThis class is open to woodturners interested
  in advancing their turning skills. If a student already has turning tools
 \, please clear them with me before class—gouges should be sharpened bef
 ore use.\n\nKids 10 and up ok if they are truly interested in woodturning\
 , but under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.\n\nClosed toe shoes are re
 quired. Long hair must be pulled back. No exceptions.\n\nThe class meets i
 n the Woodturning area outside of the Woodshop where the wood lathes are l
 ocated.\n\nNon-members\, please arrive at least 5 minutes before class. Ou
 r buildlings are locked 24/7 and you’ll need to be let inside. As this i
 s a 2 day class\, refunds will be available 48 hours before the first clas
