 lease read carefully before signing up)\n\nYou must be checked-off on the 
 lathes before taking this class!\n\nTHIS IS A TWO-PART CLASS.\nThe second 
 class will be held on Wednesday evening next week.\n\nTurning a bowl from 
 a block of wood involves learning a series of turning techniques\, includi
 ng scraping vs cutting on the bevel\, safe workholding in a chuck\, and un
 derstanding wood grain. This class or a completed wood bowl are required b
 efore taking the Working With Green Wood seminar about starting with a log
  and ending with a wood bowl.\n\nIn the first class\, students will turn a
  small bowl from kiln-dried 8/4 lumber to learn how to advance through the
  process—evaluate the wood\, cut a tenon to mount the bowl in a chuck an
 d shape the outside.\n\nThe second class will cover truing up the outside\
 , hollowing the inside\, techniques for shaping the interior of the bowl a
 s well as removing the tenon from the foot of the bowl. Finishing will be 
 discussed in relation to the intended purpose of the bowl\, and a brief ov
 erview what students will learn in the Working With Green Wood seminar.\n\
 nPart One Thursday\, August 14\, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm\nPart Two Wednesday\, 
 August 20\, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm\nMaximum four students per class

  Fee: $135\, includes $5 for a bowl blank\nRefunds available before August
  12.\n\nYou’ll be using the wood lathes and both HSS and carbide turning
  tools.\n\nThis class is open to woodturners interested in advancing their
  turning skills. If a student already has turning tools\, please clear the
 m with me before class—gouges should be sharpened before use.\n\nKids 10
  and up ok if they are truly interested in woodturning\, but under 13 must
  be accompanied by an adult.\n\nClosed toe shoes are required. Long hair m
 ust be pulled back. No exceptions.\n\nThe class meets in the Woodturning a
 rea outside of the Woodshop where the wood lathes are located.\n\nNon-memb
 ers\, please arrive at least 5 minutes before class. Our buildlings are lo
 cked 24/7 and you’ll need to be let inside. As this is a 2 day class\, r
 efunds will be available 48 hours before the first class only. Please arri
