DESCRIPTION:How to Turn a Wood Bowl\n\n(Please read carefully before signin
 g up)\n\nPrerequisite: You must be checked-off on the lathes before taking
  this class!\n\nTHIS IS A TWO-PART CLASS.\nThe second class will be held o
 n the same evening next week.\n\nTurning a bowl from a block of wood invol
 ves learning a series of turning techniques\, including scraping vs cuttin
 g on the bevel\, safe work holding in a chuck\, and understanding wood gra
 in.\n\nIn the first class\, students will turn a small bowl from either a 
 green log or 8/4 lumber to learn how to advance through the process—eval
 uate the wood\, cut a tenon to mount the bowl in a chuck\, shape the outsi
 de\, and start hollowing the inside.\n\nThe second class will cover techni
 ques for completing the interior of the bowl as well as techniques to remo
 ve the tenon from the foot of the bowl. Finishing will be discussed in rel
 ation to the intended purpose of the bowl\, and whether a student opts to 
 turn green or kiln-dried lumber.\n\nPart One Wednesday\, Jan 15\, 6:30 pm 
 to 9:30 pm\nPart Two Wednsday\, Jan 22\, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm\nMaximum four 
 students per class .\nClass Fee: $135.\nRefunds available before Jan 12.
 \n\nYou’ll be using the wood lathes and both HSS and carbide turning too
 ls.\n\nThis class is open to woodturners interested in advancing their tur
 ning skills. If a student already has turning tools\, please clear them wi
 th me before class—gouges should be sharpened before use.\n\nKids 10 and
  up ok if they are truly interested in woodturning\, but under 13 must be 
 accompanied by an adult.\n\nClosed toe shoes are required. Long hair must 
 be pulled back. No exceptions.\n\nThe class meets in the Woodturning area 
 outside of the Woodshop where the wood lathes are located.\n\nNon-members\
 , please arrive at least 5 minutes before class. Our buildlings are locked
  24/7 and you’ll need to be let inside. As this is a 2 day class\, refun
 ds will be available 48 hours before the first class only. Please arrive o
