DESCRIPTION:Intro to Woodturning and Lathe Check-Off\n\nThis is an introduc
 tory class that will begin with a safety overview and discuss the mechanic
 s of the lathes\, work holding\, preparing turning blanks\, wood propertie
 s\, turning tools and when to use them\, and a general overview of the pro
 cess before students begin turning. Students will turn a handle for a kitc
 hen tool (selected from the assortment available at The Bodgery) using bot
 h high speed steel and carbide turning tools. Students will be checked off
  on operating all four of the available wood lathes at the end of class.\n
 \nClass time: 6:30 to 9:30 pm\nClass Fee: $75 ($65 for the class\, $10 for
  the turning kit)\nMaximum four students per class
.\n\nYou’ll be usin
 g the wood lathes\, carbide and HHS tools.\nThis class is open to anyone i
 nterested in learning to turn as well as Bodgery members who would like to
  be checked off on operating all five of the wood lathes. Kids 10 and up o
 k\, but under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.\n\nIf a student already 
 has turning tools\, please clear them with me before class. If a student a
 lready has a turning kit\, please also clear it with me before class to ma
 ke sure there is an appropriate turning blank on hand. Please note that sh
 arpening high speed steel tools and more complex projects (such as bowls\,
  goblets and segmented turning) will be covered in other classes.\n\nClose
 d toe shoes are required. Long hair must be pulled back. No exceptions.

 The class meets in the Woodturning area outside of the Woodshop where the 
 wood lathes are located.\n\nRefunds before 9/30. Please arrive on time. St
 udents arriving 15 minutes or more late will not be refunded.\n\nContact:
