DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Bowl Turning\n\nYou must be checked-off on the 
 lathes before taking this class!\n\nTurning a bowl from a block of wood in
 volves learning a series of turning techniques\, including scraping vs cut
 ting on the bevel\, safe workholding in a chuck\, and understanding wood g
 rain. In this class\, students will turn a small bowl from either a green 
 log or 8/4 lumber\, and learn how to advance through the process—how to 
 evaluate the wood\, shape the outside\, cut a tenon to mount the bowl in a
  chuck\, and hollow the inside. Finishing will be discussed in relation to
  the intended purpose of the bowl\, and whether a student opts to turn gre
 en or kiln-dried lumber.\n\nWednesday\, November 15\, 6:00 to 9:30 pm\nMax
 imum three students per class
. You’ll be using the wood lathes and bo
 th HSS and carbide turning tools.\n\nThis class is open to Bodgery members
  interested in advancing their turning skills. Kids 10 and up ok if they a
 re truly interested in woodturning\, but under 13 must be accompanied by a
 n adult.\n\nIf a student already has turning tools\, please clear them wit
 h me before class—gouges should be sharpened before use.\n\nClosed toe s
 hoes are required. Long hair must be pulled back. No exceptions.

 ince class size is limited by the equipment available. Please arrive on ti
 me. Students arriving 15 minutes will not be allowed to take the class. \
