DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Woodturning and Lathe Check-Off\n\nThis is an i
 ntroductory class that will begin with a safety overview and discuss the m
 echanics of the lathes\, workholding\, preparing turning blanks\, wood pro
 perties\, turning tools and when to use them\, and a general overview of t
 he process before students begin turning. Students will turn a handle for 
 a kitchen tool (selected from the assortment available at The Bodgery) usi
 ng both high speed steel and carbide turning tools. Students will be check
 ed off on operating all five of the available wood lathes at the end of cl
 ass.\n\nTuesday\, Dec. 30\, 6:30 to 9:30 pm\nClass Fee: $75 ($65 for the c
 lass\, $10 for the turning kit). Refunds available before Dec. 29. \n\nMa
 ximum four students per class
.\nYou’ll be using the wood lathes\, car
 bide and HHS tools.\n\nThis class is open to anyone interested in learning
  to turn as well as Bodgery members who would like to be checked off on op
 erating all five of the wood lathes. Kids 10 and up ok\, but under 13 must
  be accompanied by an adult.\n\nIf a student already has turning tools\, p
 lease clear them with me before class. If a student already has a turning 
 kit\, please also clear it with me before class to make sure there is an a
 ppropriate turning blank on hand. Please note that sharpening high speed s
 teel tools and more complex projects (such as bowls\, goblets and segmente
 d turning) will be covered in other classes.\n\nClosed toe shoes are requi
 red. Long hair must be pulled back. No exceptions.\n\nThe class meets in t
 he Woodturning area outside of the Woodshop where the wood lathes are loca
 ted.\n\nPlease arrive on time. Non-members\, please arrive at least 5 minu
 tes before class. Our buildings are locked 24/7 and you’ll need to be le
 t inside. Students arriving 15 minutes or more late will not be refunded a
