DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Woodturning and Lathe Check-Off\n\nThis is an i
 ntroductory class that will begin with a safety overview and discuss the m
 echanics of the lathes\, workholding\, preparing turning blanks\, wood pro
 perties\, turning tools and when to use them\, and a general overview of t
 he process before students begin turning. Students will turn a handle for 
 a kitchen tool (selected from the assortment available at The Bodgery) usi
 ng high speed steel turning tools. Students will be checked off on operati
 ng all five of the available wood lathes at the end of class.\n\nThursday\
 , May 28\, 6:30 to 9:30 pm\nClass Fee: $75 ($65 for the class\, $10 for th
 e turning kit). Refunds available before May 26. \n\nMaximum four student
 s per class
.\nYou’ll be using the wood lathes and HHS tools.\n\nThis 
 class is open to anyone interested in learning to turn as well as Bodgery 
 members who would like to be checked off on operating all five of the wood
  lathes. Kids 10 and up ok\, but under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
 \n\nIf a student already has turning tools\, please clear them with me bef
 ore class. If a student already has a turning kit\, please also clear it w
 ith me before class to make sure there is an appropriate turning blank on 
 hand. Please note that sharpening high speed steel tools and more complex 
 projects (such as bowls\, goblets and segmented turning) will be covered i
 n other classes.\n\nClosed toe shoes are required. Long hair must be pulle
 d back. No exceptions.\n\nThe class meets in the Woodturning area outside 
 of the Woodshop where the wood lathes are located.\n\nPlease arrive on tim
 e. Non-members\, please arrive at least 5 minutes before class. Our buildi
 ngs are locked 24/7 and you’ll need to be let inside. Students arriving 
 15 minutes or more late will not be refunded and need to reschedule.\n\nCo
