 igning up)\n\nYou must be checked-off on the lathes before taking this cla
 ss!\n\nMove your turning skills forward! This is a more advanced turning p
 roject. I highly recommend that you take either the goblet turning class o
 r the bowl class before this one to get the hang of some of the basics bef
 ore learning additional techniques\n\nTHIS IS A TWO-PART CLASS.\nThe secon
 d class will be held on the same evening next week.\n\nTurning a lidded ve
 ssel from a block of wood involves learning additional skills in the serie
 s of turning techniques\, including hollowing and scraping with HSS vs car
 bide tools\, creating press-fit joins\, matching wood grain\, safe workhol
 ding in a chuck\, and understanding supported vs unsupported turning.\n\nI
 n the first class\, students will cut tenons\, part the lid from the body 
 of the box\, form and hollow the lid. If there’s time\, we will start fi
 tting the lid to the body.\n\nIn the second class\, students will fit the 
 lid to the body and complete turning the body. Techniques for handling the
  tenons will be addressed. Finishing will be discussed in relation to the 
 intended purpose of the box\, and potential advanced concepts such as unde
 rcutting and multi-axis turning will be discussed based on interest.\n\nPa
 rt One Thursday\, June 19\, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm\nPart Two Thursday\, June 2
 6\, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm\nMaximum four students per class

 35.\nRefunds available before June 17.\n\nYou’ll be using the wood lathe
 s and both HSS and carbide turning tools.\n\nThis class is open to interme
 diate woodturners interested in advancing their turning skills. If a stude
 nt already has turning tools\, please clear them with me before class—al
 l tools should be sharpened before use.\n\nKids 13 and up are ok if they a
 re already turning. This is not a good class for beginners\, especially th
 ose under 13.\n\nClosed toe shoes are required. Long hair must be pulled b
 ack. No exceptions.\n\nThe class meets in the Woodturning area outside of 
 the Woodshop where the wood lathes are located.\n\nNon-members\, please ar
 rive at least 5 minutes before class. Our buildlings are locked 24/7 and y
 ou’ll need to be let inside. As this is a 2 day class\, refunds will be 
 available 48 hours before the first class only. Please arrive on time.\n\n
