DESCRIPTION:Wood Containers—How to Turn\n\n(Please read carefully before 
 signing up)\n\nYou must be checked-off on the lathes before taking this cl
 ass!\n\nMove your turning skills forward! This is a more advanced turning 
 project. I highly recommend that you take the bowl class before this one t
 o get the hang of some of the basics before learning additional techniques
 \n\nTHIS IS A TWO-PART CLASS.\nThe second class will be held at the same t
 ime on the next day.\n\nTurning a lidded vessel from a block of wood invol
 ves learning additional skills in the series of turning techniques\, inclu
 ding hollowing and scraping with HSS vs carbide tools\, creating press-fit
  joints\, matching wood grain\, safe workholding in a chuck\, and understa
 nding supported vs unsupported turning.\n\nIn the first class\, students w
 ill cut tenons\, part the lid from the body of the box\, form and hollow t
 he lid. If there’s time\, we will start fitting the lid to the body.\n\n
 In the second class\, students will fit the lid to the body and complete t
 urning the body. Techniques for handling the tenons will be addressed. Fin
 ishing will be discussed in relation to the intended purpose of the box\, 
 and potential advanced concepts such as undercutting and multi-axis turnin
 g will be discussed based on interest.\n\nPart One Monday\, June 8\, 6:30 
 pm to 9:30 pm\nPart Two Tuesday\, June 9\, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm\nMaximum fou
 r students per class
.\nClass Fee: $135.\nRefunds available before June 
 6.\n\nYou’ll be using the wood lathes and both HSS and carbide turning t
 ools.\n\nThis class is open to intermediate woodturners interested in adva
 ncing their turning skills. If a student already has turning tools\, pleas
 e clear them with me before class—all tools should be sharpened before u
 se.\n\nKids 13 and up are ok if they are already turning. This is not a go
 od class for beginners\, especially those under 13.\n\nClosed toe shoes ar
 e required. Long hair must be pulled back. No exceptions.\n\nThe class mee
 ts in the Woodturning area outside of the Woodshop where the wood lathes a
 re located.\n\nNon-members\, please arrive at least 5 minutes before class
 . Our buildlings are locked 24/7 and you’ll need to be let inside. As th
 is is a 2 day class\, refunds will be available 48 hours before the first
