SUMMARY:MORNING CLASS Introduction to Woodturning and Lathe Check-Off
DESCRIPTION:This is an introductory class that will begin with a safety ove
 rview and discuss the mechanics of the lathes\, workholding\, preparing tu
 rning blanks\, wood properties\, turning tools and when to use them\, and 
 a general overview of the process before students begin turning. Students 
 will turn a handle for a kitchen tool (selected from the assortment availa
 ble at The Bodgery) using both high speed steel and carbide turning tools.
  Students will be checked off on operating all five of the available wood 
 lathes at the end of class.\n\nMORNING CLASS Wednesday\, April 2\, 9:00 AM
  to Noon\nClass Fee: $75 ($65 for the class\, $10 for the turning kit). Re
 funds available before 3/31\n\n\nMaximum four students per class

 ’ll be using the wood lathes\, carbide and HHS tools.\n\nThis class is o
 pen to anyone interested in learning to turn as well as Bodgery members wh
 o would like to be checked off on operating all five of the wood lathes. K
 ids 10 and up ok\, but under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.\n\nIf a s
 tudent already has turning tools\, please clear them with me before class.
  If a student already has a turning kit\, please also clear it with me bef
 ore class to make sure there is an appropriate turning blank on hand. Plea
 se note that sharpening high speed steel tools and more complex projects (
 such as bowls\, goblets and segmented turning) will be covered in other cl
 asses.\n\nClosed toe shoes are required. Long hair must be pulled back. No
  exceptions.\n\nThe class meets in the Woodturning area outside of the Woo
 dshop where the wood lathes are located.\n\nPlease arrive on time. Non-mem
 bers\, please arrive at least 5 minutes before class. Our buildings are lo
 cked 24/7 and you’ll need to be let inside. Students arriving 15 minutes
  or more late will not be refunded and need to reschedule.\n\nContact: Sla
