DESCRIPTION:Pen Turning\n\nYou must be checked off on the lathes before tak
 ing this class!\n\nTurning a pen is a great way to practice spindle turnin
 g techniques and create a finished gift for someone special (or for you!).
  Turning a pen involves following a process to correctly size and assemble
  multiple pieces into a finished item. It also involves a new method of wo
 rkholding called a mandrel in addition to using a chuck. We will also disc
 uss finishing techniques and the process for turning complex projects as w
 ell as deciphering project kit instructions.\n\nClass cost: total $75 ($65
  for the class plus $10 for turning kit)\n\n$75 ($65 for the class\, $10 f
 or the pen kit)\nMaximum four students per class.\nYou’ll be using the w
 ood lathes and HSS turning tools\n\nThis class is open to anyone who is al
 ready checked off on the lathes and is interested in advancing their turni
 ng skills. Kids 10 and up ok\, but under 13 must be accompanied by an adul
 t.\n\nIf a student already has turning tools\, please clear them with me b
 efore class—gouges and skews should be sharpened before use.\n\nClosed t
 oe shoes are required. Long hair must be pulled back. No exceptions.\nThe 
 class meets in the Woodturning part of the Shop where the wood lathes are 
 located.\n\nRefunds provided only before or on 9/1 only. Please arrive on
  time. Students arriving 15 minutes or more late will not be allowed in c
 lass or refunded. \n\nNon-member\, please get there at least 5 minutes be
 fore class. Our buildlings are locked 24/7 and you'll need to be let insid
 e.\n\nMaximum four students per class
