DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Woodturning and Lathe Check-Off\n\nThis is an i
 ntroductory class that will begin with a safety overview and discuss the m
 echanics of the lathes\, work holding\, preparing turning blanks\, wood pr
 operties\, turning tools and when to use them\, and a general overview of 
 the process before students begin turning. Students will turn a handle for
  a kitchen tool (selected from the assortment available at The Bodgery) us
 ing both high speed steel and carbide turning tools. Students will be chec
 ked off on operating all four of the available wood lathes at the end of c
 lass.\n\nClass time: 6:30 to 9:30 pm\nClass Fee: $75 ($65 for the class\, 
 $10 for the turning kit)\n\nMaximum four students per class
.\nYou’ll 
 be using the wood lathes\, carbide and HHS tools.\n\nThis class is open to
  anyone interested in learning to turn as well as Bodgery members who woul
 d like to be checked off on operating all five of the wood lathes. Kids 10
  and up ok\, but under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.\n\nIf a student
  already has turning tools\, please clear them with me before class. If a 
 student already has a turning kit\, please also clear it with me before cl
 ass to make sure there is an appropriate turning blank on hand. Please not
 e that sharpening high speed steel tools and more complex projects (such a
 s bowls\, goblets and segmented turning) will be covered in other classes.
 \n\nClosed toe shoes are required. Long hair must be pulled back. No excep
 tions.\nThe class meets in the Woodturning area outside of the Woodshop wh
 ere the wood lathes are located.\n\nRefunds before 9/8. Please arrive on t
 ime. Students arriving 15 minutes or more late will not be refunded and ne
