DESCRIPTION:Pens—How to Turn\n\nYou must be checked off on the lathes bef
 ore taking this class!\n\nTurning a pen is a great way to practice spindle
  turning techniques and create a finished gift for someone special (or for
  you!). Turning a pen involves following a process to correctly size and a
 ssemble multiple pieces into a finished item. It also involves a new metho
 d of workholding called a mandrel in addition to using a chuck. We will al
 so discuss finishing techniques and the process for turning complex projec
 ts as well as deciphering project kit instructions.\n\n19th Feb\, 9am to 1
 2 pm\n$75 ($65 for the class\, $10 for the pen kit)\nRefunds available by 
 June 8.\n\nMaximum four students per class.\nYou’ll be using the wood la
 thes and HSS turning tools\n\nThis class is open to anyone who is already 
 checked off on the lathes and is interested in advancing their turning ski
 lls. Kids 10 and up ok\, but under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.\n\n
 If a student already has turning tools\, please clear them with me before 
 class—gouges and skews should be sharpened before use.\n\nClosed toe sho
 es are required. Long hair must be pulled back. No exceptions.\n\nThe clas
 s meets in the Woodturning area outside of the Woodshop where the wood lat
 hes are located.\n\nPlease arrive on time. Non-members\, please arrive at 
 least 5 minutes before class. Our buildings are locked 24/7 and you’ll n
 eed to be let inside. Students arriving 15 minutes or more late will not b
