DESCRIPTION:Turn a Lidded Box\n\n(Please read carefully before signing up)\
 n\nYou must be checked-off on the lathes before taking this class!\n\nThis
  is an advanced spindle turning project. I highly recommend that you take 
 the goblet turning class before this one.\n\nTHIS IS A TWO-PART CLASS.\nTh
 e second class will be held on the same evening next week.\n\nTurning a li
 dded box from a block of wood involves learning additional skills in the s
 eries of turning techniques\, including hollowing and scraping with HSS vs
  carbide tools\, creating press-fit joins\, matching wood grain\, safe wor
 kholding in a chuck\, and understanding supported vs unsupported turning.\
 n\nIn the first class\, students will cut tenons\, part the lid from the b
 ody of the box\, form and hollow the lid. If there's time\, we will start 
 fitting the lid to the body.\n\nIn the second class\, students will fit th
 e lid to the body and complete turning the body. Techniques for handling t
 he tenons will be addressed. Finishing will be discussed in relation to th
 e intended purpose of the box\, and potential advanced concepts such as un
 dercutting and multi-axis turning will be discussed based on interest.\n\n

 35.\nRefunds available before May 13.\n\nYou’ll be using the wood lathes
  and both HSS and carbide turning tools.\n\nThis class is open to intermed
 iate woodturners interested in advancing their turning skills. If a studen
 t already has turning tools\, please clear them with me before class—all
  tools should be sharpened before use.\n\nKids 13 and up are ok if they ar
 e already turning. This is not a good class for beginners\, especially tho
 se under 13.\n\nClosed toe shoes are required. Long hair must be pulled ba
 ck. No exceptions.\n\nThe class meets in the Woodturning area outside of t
 he Woodshop where the wood lathes are located.\n\nNon-members\, please arr
 ive at least 5 minutes before class. Our buildlings are locked 24/7 and yo
 u’ll need to be let inside. As this is a 2 day class\, refunds will be a
 vailable 48 hours before the first class only. Please arrive on time.\n\nC
