DESCRIPTION:How to Turn a Wood Bowl\n\n(Please read carefully before signin
 g up)\n\nYou must be checked-off on the lathes before taking this class!\n
 \nTHIS IS A TWO-PART CLASS.\nThe second class will be held on the same eve
 ning next week.\n\nThis class is the prerequisite to the Log to Bowl semin
 ar!\n\nTurning a bowl from a block of wood involves learning a series of t
 urning techniques\, including scraping vs cutting on the bevel\, safe work
 holding in a chuck\, and understanding wood grain.\n\nIn the first class\,
  students will start to turn a small bowl from either a green log or 8/4 l
 umber to learn how to advance through the process—evaluate the wood\, cu
 t a tenon to mount the bowl in a chuck\, shape the outside\, and start hol
 lowing the inside.\n\nThe second class will cover techniques for completin
 g the interior of the bowl as well as techniques to remove the tenon from 
 the foot of the bowl. Finishing will be discussed in relation to the inten
 ded purpose of the bowl\, and whether a student opted to turn green or kil
 n-dried lumber.\n\nPart One FRIDAY\, November 14\, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm\nPar
 t Two FRIDAY\, November 21\, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm\nMaximum four students per
  class
.\nClass Fee: $135.\nRefunds available before November 12.\n\nYou
 ’ll be using the wood lathes and both HSS and carbide turning tools.\n\n
 This class is open to woodturners interested in advancing their turning sk
 ills. If a student already has turning tools\, please clear them with me b
 efore class—gouges should be sharpened before use.\n\nKids 10 and up ok 
 if they are truly interested in woodturning\, but under 13 must be accompa
 nied by an adult.\n\nClosed toe shoes are required. Long hair must be pull
 ed back. No exceptions.\n\nThe class meets in the Woodturning area outside
  of the Woodshop where the wood lathes are located.\n\nNon-members\, pleas
 e arrive at least 5 minutes before class. Our buildlings are locked 24/7 a
 nd you’ll need to be let inside. As this is a 2 day class\, refunds will
  be available 48 hours before the first class only. Please arrive on time.
