This 2-3 hour class will teach you how to bind a book from scratch. This is my self taught method, feel free to do things your own way if you’d like! Class is planned for 2 hours, but actual time may vary, see schedule below.
6:00-6:20 Fold the signatures and punch holes for sewing
6:20-6:40 Wax thread and sew the signatures together
6:40-7:00 Glue signatures and place in press
7:00-7:30 Cut and glue the book board and book cloth
7:30-7:50 Glue reinforcement fabric on spine, decorative end bands
7:50-8:00 Glue decorative paper to the cover and to the signatures
At this point the book can go back into the press or you can take it home where you should put it under something heavy for 24 hours.
Cost: $20 per person. Refunds allowed until July 29.
Clothing: Wear clothes that you’re okay with potentially getting glue on.
