This is an introduction to kumiko woodworking. Participants will learn the basics of kumiko construction and the tools required for this craft. We will each build a small square kumiko with the Asanoha pattern with handtools.
The class will be held April 1st from 1-5pm.
Maximum group size of 8 students. Minimum of 4 people. If class limits is not met, we will issue a refund. Class is $85 and includes $10/person for wood supplies and use of the specialty jigs
The class will be held in the Shop classroom (in the main shop area).
If you have your own tools please bring them to class. I will have various tools to share as well.
Dozuki – a Japanese drawcut saw with very fine tooth set (0.2mm);
Block Plane or Kanna – a Japanese plane or a small block plane;
⅛” (3mm) Chisel;
Small square;
Marking knife;
Marking gauge
