This is an introduction to the copper foil method for created stained glass pieces.
We will talk briefly about pattern design, but students will not be designing patterns in this class. I will pin suggested patterns in the #glass channel. If a students wishes to make something else, please contact me on Slack or at cassilynn.lanora.brown@gmail.com to discuss if pattern is appropriate for this class.
In this class, students will learn; glass safety; how to cut glass; how to grind sharp edges and apply foil; how to solder; framing (if applicable); and cleaning, patina (if desired), and polishing. Students will leave with a finished piece after three classes.
Dates: Jan 11, 18, and 25 @ 6 pm to 8 pm
Cost: $120 plus cost of materials (based on size of pattern and glass used). Class cost can be refunded up to three days prior to class start.
Safety: Gloves and eye safety wear will be provided. Students should wear clothes that can get dirty. If you have pets at home, consider wearing an over jacket/long sleeve shirt button up shirt, that can be removed before leaving. Glass shards can cling to clothing and fall off at home where they can be picked up by paw pads, transferred by petting, hugging, etc. No shorts, no open toe shoes
