The objective of this class is to learn the basics of handcut dovetail joints. We will focus on through dovetails, but also look at half-blind and full-blind joint construction. No woodworking experience is necessary.
The class will be held on April 2nd, from 12noon to 4pm in the Shop classroom.
No special equipment is required, but if you own these tools, please bring them. I will also have some tools to share as well.
Dovetail saw (8-9 inches and 18-20 tpi (teeth per inch)
or a Dozuki – a Japanese drawcut saw with very fine tooth set (18-24 tpi)
Coping saw or jewelers saw
Bench or Japanese chisels (⅛, ¼, ½ and ¾ widths)
Try square
Sliding bevel
Marking knife
Cutting gauge
Class fee is $90 and includes $15 for wood supplies.
Group size is limited to 6 participants. Minimum of 4 attendees. If minimum class limit is not met, refund will be issued.
