Introduction to Woodturning
This is an introductory class that will begin with a safety overview and discuss the mechanics of the lathes, work holding, preparing turning blanks, wood properties, turning tools and when to use them, and a general overview of the process before students begin turning. Students will turn a handle for a kitchen tool (selected from the assortment available at The Bodgery) using both high speed steel and carbide turning tools. Students will be checked off on operating all four of the available wood lathes at the end of class.
Wednesday, July 31, 6:30 to 9:30 pm
Class Fee: $75 ($65 for the class, $10 for the turning kit)
