Sharpening Woodturning Tools
This is a hands-on class to learn how to sharpen high speed steel turning tools. We will sharpen the standard HSS tools used for woodturning on the grinding wheels in the woodturning area.
NEW—we will be using the new angle finders and a second CBN wheel!
Tuesday, September 29, 6:30 to 8:30 pm
Maximum six students per class.
Class fee: $45
Refunds available before September 27.
We will be using the angle finders, CBN grinding wheels and the OneWay sharpening jig system to sharpen the community tools.
This class is open to turners interested in advancing their skills in woodturning. Kids 10 and up ok, but under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
If a student already has their own turning tools, that is fantastic. Please bring them with you and show them to me before class so you can practice the correct techniques for your tools. Please note we will be sharpening HSS woodturning tools only.
Closed toe shoes are required. Long hair must be pulled back. No exceptions.
The class meets in the “Woodturning” part of the Shop where the wood lathes are located. Please arrive on time.
Non-members, please arrive at least 5 minutes before class. Our buildlings are locked 24/7 and you’ll need to be let inside.
If necessary, please cancel at least 24 hours in advance since class size is limited by the equipment available. Please arrive on time. Students arriving 15 minutes or more late will need to reschedule.
